TIMO SYRJÄLÄ
I was born in Frankfurt, Germany, and raised in Sipoo, Finland. Growing up between languages and cultures shaped the way I see the world, stories and people from an early age.
My interest in filmmaking started young. At 13, I began creating short films with friends using whatever equipment I could get my hands on. What started as fun weekends quickly turned into a serious passion for storytelling, directing, and visual production.
At 15 I started making videos for local businesses, and at 16, I became self-employed. Since then, I’ve worked as a freelance filmmaker and videographer, creating commercials, branded films, social media campaigns, and narrative projects for clients and audiences alike.
Over the years, I’ve written, directed, and produced multiple short films and a feature film, edited more than 180 YouTube videos, and completed over 30 client productions. In 2025, I stepped into my first lead cinematographer role on a feature film, further expanding my work into larger-scale narrative filmmaking.
Alongside filmmaking, entrepreneurship has played a major role in my life. Building projects from the ground up has taught me discipline, leadership, adaptability, and the importance of collaboration under pressure. I believe the best productions are built on trust, ambition, and a shared creative vision with like minded people.
Outside of work, I’m drawn to high-intensity environments and challenges. I spend my time skiing, racing, shooting, diving, and training in the gym. I also love crafts and fixing up old cars.
Today, my focus is on developing cinematic projects that combine strong visual storytelling with emotional and commercial impact – while continuing to push toward larger productions in both film and digital media.
